A first birthday is a special occasion that deserves to be celebrated in a meaningful and memorable way. When I was contacted about helping put together a “some bunny is turning one” tea party for a sweet baby girl, I couldn’t help but get excited about the theme for this party. Julianna’s parents envisioned a magical party that evoked the feeling of springtime with whimsical details fit for a princess. When planning an event, I like to try to add an unexpected element and what better addition to a bunny tea party than a REAL bunny? I teamed up with my colleague Brittany, of Brittany Gidley Photography, to plan this party. She shoots photos for a local animal shelter to help the pets get adopted and decided to reach out to her contact at the Humane Society of Summit County to see if there was a bunny available with a good temperament that could use some extra love and photos.Soon after, we were introduced to Moya, the sweetest bunny there ever was. Once we knew Moya would be joining the birthday festivities, we selected a location for the tea party that gave Moya the freedom to run around, while also ensuring her safety and comfort. The party was hosted in the gardens of Mooreland Mansion, which provided ample space for Moya, along with a lush backdrop with flowers in bloom all around. Next we sourced florals from HeatherLily Event & Floral Design that included beautiful springtime blooms, combined with all of the things a bunny likes to eat in a garden, such as cabbage, beets and carrots. Of course no party is complete without cake. While the bunny munched on garden veggies, Julianna had her pick of sweets from Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes. The party desserts included an adorable bunny cake, along with themed sugar cookies and hand painted macarons.Other party details included a textured white teepee draped with ethereal dip dyed tassels. The teepee was filled with soft blankets, a handmade bunny doll and age appropriate picture books about bunnies. Julianna and Moya had a heartwarming connection from the very beginning. It was such a treat to watch Julianna in awe of this gentle furry creature who was a guest at her party. And even more heartwarming to see Moya get her very first taste of freedom while hopping on clovers in between munching on beets and carrots and posing for party photos. The tea party turned out better than we ever could have hoped. It was a day full of love and laughter and the photos that were captured that day will be something that Julianna and her family can cherish forever. But the true cherry on top was that a picture of Moya at the tea party was picked up by a local news station and soon after, Moya found her forever home.
