With Mother’s Day less than a week away, I thought it would be great to share some tips for hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch! This is the perfect way to celebrate that special mom in your life, or perhaps a reason to gather together with some of your favorite mom friends to celebrate motherhood together.
I had the incredible opportunity to appear on New Day Cleveland last week to share my tips for hosting Mother’s Day Brunch (which you can watch HERE), and I thought it would be fun to also recap the tips on my blog too. Keep reading for all the details on my easy-to-recreate Mother’s Day Bagel and Mimosa Bar.
I love the idea of putting together a bagel and mimosa bar for a Mother’s Day brunch. The best part is that it is budget-friendly to create and it doesn’t require any cooking! Everything used to create this bagel bar was sourced from my local Heinen’s Grocery Store. I think the key to putting together a delicious brunch spread is to include really fresh produce, which is why I choose to shop at Heinen’s since they are based in Cleveland and put an emphasis on sourcing produce locally.
To put together the bagel bar spread, I started by stopping by the bakery department to pick out an assortment of fresh bagels. Then I built out a charcuterie-style board with all of the toppings you need to create a gourmet bagel. The charcuterie board included smoked salmon, prosciutto, cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, capers, dill and more. I also included a variety of cream cheeses, as well as fresh fruit platters to complement the gourmet bagels. My motto is that it is not necessarily what you are serving, but how you are serving it that makes it look impressive. If there is one tip I could give for creating a mother’s day brunch spread, it would be to use varying sizes and heights of platters and strands to give the table some visual interest.
Another way to add visual interest and texture is with fresh florals. I absolutely love the pop of color and ultra-feminine vibe that the peony and rose floral arrangements from Ashley’s Floral added to the bagel bar. I also recommend incorporating boutique paper partyware, which helps to tie in the color palette and also makes clean up a breeze.
Moving on to my favorite part of brunch, mimosas! To style the mimosa bar, I made sure to include all of the basics: champagne, 3 different kinds of juices, a variety of fresh fruit for garnish, cocktail napkins and a fun sign that read “brunch and bubbly with mom” by Minor Details CLE.
One way to make a mother’s day mimosa bar extra special is to serve mimosas in personalized champagne flutes. I styled champagne flutes that read “Happy Mother’s Day” from Things Remembered, which is another Cleveland-based company. As a party stylist, I love supporting local businesses and when I spotted these, I just knew they would be a perfect fit for my Mother’s Day brunch. What’s great is that the champagne flutes are not only a special way to serve mimosas to your guests, but they can also be a great gift for your guests to take home too.
