So truth be told, whether I’m entertaining at home or heading to a party elsewhere, I have a few go-to recipes that I almost always stick to. During the summer, you can almost guarantee that I will be making or bringing my berry triffle to any party or occasion. It’s one of the simplest recipes I know, yet it’s always a crowd pleaser. And there is something about the presentation in the triffle dish that makes it look so fancy and complicated to make.
So next time you are heading to a party in the summer months, this is one recipe you’ll want to add to the rotation. I guarantee that after you make it once, your friends and family will start asking you to make it for every gathering from there on out.
Here’s what you’ll need:
– 2 lbs of fresh strawberries
– 1 lb of fresh blueberries
– 2 packages of white chocolate instant pudding
– 1 premade angel food cake
– Cool whip
– 3 cups of milk
- First, make sure to wash all of the berries.
- Reserve 6-7 strawberries for the top of the dessert, and then slice the rest of the strawberries and throw them in a bowl.
- Take a potato masher or a large spoon and muddle the strawberry slices to bring out their full flavor and natural juices.
- Next, you will need to prep the pudding. Take two packages of instant pudding (I used sugar free white chocolate) and mix it with 3 cups of milk (which will make it a little thicker than the normal recipe). Set in the fridge to set while you finishing prepping the rest of the ingredients.
- Now you will move on to the angel food cake. This is the easiest part of all! Break the angel food cake apart in small pieces and throw into the bottom of the triffle bowl. I had a “big helper” for this part, so if you have kids, its the perfect way to get them involved. The cake peices will be pretty fluffy, so you may need to push it down a little before adding the first layer.
- Then begin by layering ½ of the strawberry slices on top of the angel food cake. I always spoon the mixture around the edges first to make a clean line, and then fill in the center last.
- Next, layer ½ of the blueberries on top of the strawberries starting with the edges and then throwing a handful or two into the center of the dish.
- Now add ½ of the pudding on top of the berries starting with the edges and filling in the center last.
- Repeat another layer of strawberries, another layer of blueberries and the last layer of pudding.
- Top the dessert with cool whip, and decorate with the remaining whole strawberries.
Now step back and marvel at your masterpiece. And it not only looks good, it tastes good too! I hope this recipe serves you as well as it has for me over the last few years!
