Yep, you read the title right!! I can now add dog party stylist and pet baker to my list of life accomplishments. I had so much fun styling this fun and funky summer themed party for two very special Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Since meeting my photographer (and now friend) Brittany Gidley in September 2015, I have had the opportunity to work with her on many projects and have watched her continue to grow her business. Her passion for what she does is inspiring and I am in awe by her ability to create an unparalleled, special photography experience for each and every one of her clients. So this time around, I wanted to turn the tables and create a dream session for HER fur-baby, Harvey and his best friend Watson. The inspiration for the party came to me while walking through one of my favorite stores (Target of course!) and I spotted an adorable pink and aqua plush dog toy. I realized it matched perfectly with some cute party decor in the dollar section, so I left that day with a basket full of goodies to throw one heck of a dog party (HELLO, pineapple sunglasses!). I wanted the party to give off a really summery vibe, so I incorporated lots of pops of color through the use of balloons, tassels and pineapple cutouts. To make transportation easier, I blew up the floating balloons on location using a Balloon Time helium tank. This was also the first shoot I’ve used the One Stylish Party Balloon Garland Kit (coming soon!) to create a backdrop and I have to say that I am in love with how it turned out.The “dessert table” included apothecary jars with tennis balls and dog treats, pet-friendly cupcakes, mini rawhide bones with bows and sprinkle donut dog biscuits. I knew I wanted a cake that is safe for dogs, but I had no idea where to purchase one, so I was thrilled when I found a dog cake mix on Amazon. It was super simple to make by following the directions on the box and then I decorated it with yogurt frosting (that came with it), Milk-Bones, rainbow sprinkles and a satin ribbon. And last but not least, I wanted another interactive element to the shoot, so I included a small kiddie pool filled with mini confetti balloons to keep with the summer theme. If you think the photos are cute, you should have been there in person. I can’t remember a time I laughed so hard! And yes, those bubbles you see in the photos were blown by me in the background (Ha!) I hope you enjoyed reading about my latest venture with Brittany Gidley Photography. This puppy party shoot was so much fun and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Bring on summer!
