It is such a special occasion to shower a bride-to-be with love and well-wishes ahead of her big day. Playing off the florals available during the fall season, I recently hosted a Love is Blooming DIY Bridal Shower, featuring a flower bar where guests could make their own floral bouquet.
Michaels Weddings truly made planning this DIY bridal shower a breeze. Nearly all of the supplies were sourced from MichaelsWeddings.com and my local Michaels store, including the materials for the DIY bouquet party favors, along with readymade decor items that provided the perfect finishing touches for the shower.
When planning this bridal shower, I started by sending out a “Love is Blooming” bridal shower invitation to set the tone for the party. The design was kept simple with a black font on a textured ecru cardstock, backed with kraft paper cardstock and finished with clear bag overlay to hold faux floral petals.
Next, I browsed the fall floral aisle at Michaels to select the blooms for the flower bar. I gravitated towards cream ranunculus, mauve mini dahlias, dusty pink peonies, magenta peonies, pink peony buds, cream mums and lavender berry clusters. The magenta, rusty rose and mauve colors helped to inspire the decor for the rest of the party details as well.
The flower bar, which was the focal point of the shower, was styled with an array of cylinder glass vases to display the flowers, along with three galvanized metal buckets, to hold the taller stems. On the bottom half of the flower bar, I mixed in a few bunches of real silver dollar eucalyptus and seeded eucalyptus. This inexpensive touch really helped to bring the floral bar alive (and smelled great too!) To tie in the shower theme, I hung a hand-lettered sign above the flower bar, which I made with a white foam board and black lettering, allowing the colors of the flowers to pop.
Once the guests had selected blooms and greenery from the flower bar, they moved over to a craft table with all of the supplies to assemble their bouquet. The supplies included: scissors, a hole punch, floral tape, metallic gold markers, black sharpie markers, gift tags, kraft paper, ribbon, twine and more.
To add some flair to the craft table, I put together some simple faux floral arrangements to display down the center of the table. I wanted to keep the arrangements fairly small to not take up too much room, so I used mini mason jars as bud vases for the florals. To complement the faux floral arrangements, I displayed decorative floral sugar cookies on two mini cake stands on the table, which guests could enjoy while crafting their bouquet.
I styled each place setting at the table with a gold speckled plate layered under a David Tutera Gold Love Plate, along with a DIY magenta dip-dyed linen napkin and a Martha Stewart Gold Plastic Champagne Flute filled with a blackberry champagne cocktail.
The bridal shower was a perfect afternoon spent crafting and making memories with friends and family of the bride. Not only was it fun to create a simple craft together, but the bouquets made for a unique party favor that guests are sure to enjoy for weeks and months to come.
See below for the steps on how to make and wrap your own fall floral bouquet.
- Select an array of blooms from the flower bar, making sure to include a mixture of sizes, textures, and colors.
- Add in few stems of fresh greenery and then secure the floral bouquet by tying it together loosely with a strand of twine.
- Next, cut a rectangular piece of kraft paper and lay the floral bouquet at the center.
- To wrap the bouquet, take the right side of the paper and fold it over once to create a clean edge. Pull the right corner to the left side of the bouquet.
- Now you will fold the bottom corner over the bouquet and then finish by wrapping the remaining paper on the left side fully around the bouquet.
- Tie the bouquet with ribbon of your choice and feel free to add on a favor tag for an extra special touch.

Can you show a finished bouquet made by guests? What was the gold marker for?
