For those of you who have been following me for a few years, you probably already know that I partner with Brittany Gidley Photography to help produce a HUGE Christmas photoshoot every year. We get absolutely giddy planning out every single little detail of these shoots, and always strive to find ways to top the year before and truly make it a memorable experience for each guest. This year, in keeping with a socially-distant theme of 2020, we decided to curate a Cozy Little Christmas set complete with all of the magic of the Christmas season.
In the past, we’ve orchestrated a dreamy hot cocoa stand on a Christmas Tree Farm, a vintage camper party in the woods, a Gingerbread House decorating party in an exclusive lakeside estate in Cleveland, a ski-lodge themed shoot at a real lodge in the Cleveland Metroparks, and most recently, we built an entire Toy Factory from scratch last year.
For 2020, we knew we wanted to get back to basics and focus on the very simplest things make the holiday season so special. Whether near or apart, family and friends are truly what the holidays are all about. So our goal with the Cozy Little Christmas set was for our guests to experience a little bit of magic of the Christmas season and make memories together as a family.
When guests entered the studio, they began the experience by reading The Night Before Christmas on a plush bed together as a family. Then, they moved on to a family room with a neutral shiplap wall adorned with flocked greenery wreaths and a beautiful neutral Christmas tree filled with real presents. After opening a few presents, the little ones scurried off to watch the working model train pulling mini Christmas trees through village of snow-covered ceramic houses.
Next, guests would move over to a faux fireplace to enjoy a grazing box filled with chocolates, donuts and holiday sweets. And for the grand finale, each family got to play in real snow in an indoor Christmas tree lot!
While there may not be as much gathering happening for the holidays this year, it doesn’t mean that you can’t find special ways to celebrate and make memories. The magic of Christmas is still very much alive, and I feel blessed that I could play a small part in so many families making memories together this holiday season. As always, thank you Brittany Gidley for always trusting in my vision and allowing me to be part of your biggest shoot of the year!
