‘Tis is the season for gathering together with family and friends to celebrate the holidays. Chances are that most people will be hosting some form of soiree in the month of December, so I decided to partner with Lillet to come up with two simple, yet wow-worthy signature cocktail recipes to serve this holiday season.
Classic cocktails, like the French Blonde and the Lillet Fizz, are making a big comeback lately, and are an effortless way to add a touch of sophistication to any party. While it is always a good idea to stock up on beer and wine before hosting a party, a signature cocktail is a great way to get the party started and to tie in the party theme.
Without further ado, here are two of my favorite cocktails recipes that I plan to serve throughout the holidays this year. Both cocktails include Lillet Blanc, a French apertif wine with a smooth and fruity taste that is delicious both served alone, as well as used as a cocktail mixer.
French Blonde
This recipe combines floral and citrus notes to create a refreshing, yet seasonal cocktail perfect to brighten up any cold weather gathering.
- 2 oz Lillet Blanc
- 1 oz Plymouth Gin
- 1/2 oz elderflower liquor
- 2 oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
- 2 dashes lemon bitters
- Slice of blood orange and a tinsel drink stirrer for garnish
Directions: Combine the first 5 ingredients in an ice filled shaker and shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of blood orange a tinsel drink stirrer.
To make the tinsel drink stirrer, you will need a tinsel garland, rock candy sticks and a glue gun. Cut the garland into 2 inch strips, use hot glue to attach the garland segments to the top of the rock candy sticks.
Pomegranate Lillet Fizz
This simple cocktail is all about presentation. The deep red pomegranate simple syrup creates a beautiful gradient effect in the coupe glass that adds a pop of color and holiday flare to any soiree.
- 2 oz Lillet Blanc
- 4 oz tonic water
- 1/2 oz pomegranate simple syrup
- Spring of rosemary and cranberries for garnish
Directions:
Pour the pomegranate simple syrup at the bottom of the coupe glass, add Lillet Blanc and top with tonic water. Garnish with a spring of fresh rosemary and cranberries for garnish.
To make the pomegranate simple syrup, bring equal parts water and sugar to a boil. Add pomegranates to the mixture and simmer, then strain.
Must be 21+ to drink. Please enjoy Lillet responsibly.
