My very favorite time of the year is finally here! While I love taking part in the same holiday traditions year after year, I also like to come up new ways to celebrate the holiday season too. I’ve had an Apres Ski Lodge party theme bookmarked for years and couldn’t contain my excitement when Brittany Gidley Photography gave me the green light to style this theme for some of her VIP clients!
This party theme seamlessly blends rustic decor with luxe modern elements to create an inviting space for creating memories with loved ones. I wanted the look of the party to mirror what you might find in the lobby of luxury resort nestled in the mountains of a ski town in Colorado or Vermont.
To start, Brittany and I scouted out the perfect venue for the party, Look About Lodge in Bentleyville, Ohio. The lodge is the very definition of rustic, so we had our work cut out for us to transform the space, but we were up for the challenge.
Since the space was so dark, I decided to lighten it up with lots of white fur accent pieces including a rug, a bench and overlays for the existing wood chairs. In the middle of the white fur seating by the fire place, I displayed a gold coffee table from Borrow Rentals for families to gather around to play vintage games together. Two flocked Christmas trees flanked either side of the fire place and white fur stockings hung from the mantle that we decorated with a fresh greenery garland.
Next, I focused on creating a hot cocoa and dessert bar, which was a hit with both parents and kids alike. The star of the dessert bar was a three-tier white chocolate fountain, which was super easy to use and added such a wow-factor to the party. I put together a simple tray with store bought items that could be dipped in the chocolate fountain, including chocolate chip cookies, pound cake, rice crispy treats, marshmallows, pretzel rods, donuts and Oreos.
The kids enjoyed hot cocoa with marshmallows from a drink dispenser, while parents could indulge in a glass of Dom Perignon. I found the cutest champagne holder from Home Goods that provided such a fun and luxurious way to serve the champagne at the party.
To tie in the ski party theme, I found a hand-lettered ski lodge sign from Ella Claire that I displayed on an easel next to the dessert cart. I also installed a cascading balloon garland down the side of the stairs that provided a fun backdrop for the dessert bar. A winter white floral arrangement from Ashley’s Florals and a few decorative items, such as gold Christmas trees, reindeer and festive paper plates, rounded out the decor for the party.
